“…no matter where I’m going, listen to the wind, I’m whispering Maureen. Feel the sun kiss your skin, I’m touching you, it’s no dream. No matter where I go, you’re never alone.”
Maureen found these lyrics written about her by her late husband six months after his horrific car accident.
In moments of solitude on the coast in South Carolina, St. Barth’s or Porto, Maureen captures women comfortable in their own skin in the style of fashion photography. With a unique physical perspective of photographing from below, Maureen empowers and elevates individuals from the cliched subject to the hero. Positioning individuals in this way dares to oppose the traditional depiction of women in fashion photography, where they are typically lensed from above as if to look smaller and more vulnerable through the male gaze.
Maureen wants you to experience her subject’s strength, passion, resilience, hope, and fear…but never loneliness. Her intention is to look beyond the surface of these women to capture the energy that surrounds and emanates from within their souls. While grief has prompted her to seek answers about her purpose in the face of loss, faith and love guide her in the knowledge that she and her subjects are never alone in this journey.
